Grottoes of North America installs Grand Monarch for 2009-2010
Edwin “Pierre” Shawver of Berlin Center has been elected as Grand Monarch of the Grottoes of North America and was installed at a ceremony on June 13, 2009 in Peoria, Illinois In his position as Grand Monach, Shawver is the presiding officer and head of all Grottoes in the United States and Canada. Shawver was the Monarch of Aut Mori Grotto in Youngstown in 1989, President of the Ohio Grotto Association 1997,a member of the Aut Mori Grotto Clown Unit where he is know as “Pierre”, Western Star Lodge #21 F & AM in Boardman, St John’s Commandery in Youngstown as well as several other Masonic bodies. Pierre is retired from Local #377, ABF Freightlines and resides in Berlin Center, Ohio with his wife Barbara. Pierre has three children, Scott, Brett and Dawn all of Berlin Center. The Mystic Order of Veiled Prophets of the Enchanted Realm, whose subordinate bodies are the Gottoes, is an organization by and for Master Masons. Aut Mori Grotto as well as the Grottoes of North America are dedicated to charity and the care of others. One of the charities that the Grottoes participates in is dental care for children with special needs. This program was adopted by the grottoes as its second humanitarian project. The Grottoes of North America offer this service to those children afflicted with cerebral palsy, muscular dystrophy and the mentally challenged.
